Interview with Sarah Moore, Advertising & Creative Director for The Carlson Law Firm

What is your background in marketing?

I originally wanted to be a travel nurse, but life took a different turn when the military led our family to Germany.

I started volunteering with the Protestant Women of The Chapel (PWOC) to make friends, and that experience opened unexpected doors, from event planning and publicity to social media.

When I decided to reenter the workforce, those volunteer skills helped me land a job as a Military Family Liaison when we were later stationed in Alaska, and later, as a Convention Guide at Disney World. All those experiences prepared me for my current role with The Carlson Law Firm, where I’ve now been for over six years. I never planned on a career in legal marketing, but I’m so grateful that my journey led me here.

What’s a Typical Day Like for You at The Carlson Law Firm?

I manage the traditional marketing for the firm, including print, radio, TV, billboards, and sponsorships for all of our locations. Every day looks a little different as we support 20 offices throughout Texas and beyond, and the team operates our charitable arm, Carlson Cares, that hosts events and other community outreach efforts throughout the year. In Marketing, flexibility is key, and we often have to adjust our priorities as needed.

What are some challenges in legal marketing?

There are many law firms out there, so our biggest challenge is showing what truly sets The Carlson Law Firm apart...our compassion. We want people to know that we’re here for them 24/7, whenever they need us. While we primarily handle personal injury cases, some offices also provide family law or criminal defense, and we handle mass tort representation nationwide.

We’re part of the same communities we serve, in neighborhoods, schools, and local events. We support our clients not only through their cases but also through year-round community involvement. We’re not just a law firm that represents clients; we’re neighbors who care about the community and schools we are surrounded by.

Tell us about Carlson Cares.

Carlson Cares is our charitable arm and it’s at the heart of who we are. From sponsoring sports teams and veterans’ events to supporting schools, we’re always looking for ways to give back.

Right now, we’re gearing up for our Carlson’s Christmas Miracle season, helping over 800 families this year. We provide anything from monthly H-E-B gift cards, Christmas decorations, and gifts, as well as meet specific needs, like helping one family get a dining table. We also partner with the Killeen Food Care Center, donating gift cards, blankets, and family games, and with Backpack Friends in Pflugerville, providing a gift to go in their weekend food packs for students facing food insecurity.

Why did you choose to partner with Walraven?

When an opportunity came up to sponsor a school in Temple, we jumped on it! We love supporting the schools that matter to our clients, attorneys, and staff as well.

One of our Legal Support Managers was thrilled to see our ad on her child’s school car pickup tag. She excitedly shared a photo with the entire staff, thanking the marketing team for supporting her child’s school and pointing out that families would see The Carlson Law Firm ad every day! We’re now expanding our partnerships to additional schools for the next year. It’s such a meaningful and visible way to stay connected to our communities and truly show what we say, “We care. We can help.”
